The most critical and specific item in filtration and separation is the membrane. The criterion for your choice is not only the correct cut off or pore size. Depending on your application the physical and chemical characteristics must be taken into account. The loss of protein and other molecules can be critical in some applications.

If you must get access to the membrane, you will choose a filter holder. After filtration you can take the membrane and use it in further tests. CrossFlow-Filtration using hollow fibres allows a significantly improved throughput. Reasons are an enlargement of the active surface and tangential flow that prevents membranes of being blocked by layers. If the layer does not block a membrane it at least changes separation characteristics. CrossFlow-filtration is the solution for difficult separation tasks. |
